How Connecting Control and Power in Three-Phase Motor

Let's watch Three Phase Motors (Squirrel Cage) that are most commons and will learn how wire and connect in Star, Delta or Delta-Star

Star Connection:

The main Connection are developed into Terminals of Motor and STAR is most used to Low Current Consumption, it means when the Motor not needs high Power to Start (As Pumps); sometimes STAR is used for Industrial Fans or Little Motors

Delta Connection:

The main Connection are developed into Terminals of Motor and DELTA is most used to High Current Consumption, it means when the Motor needs high power to Start as Pumps; sometimes DELTA is used for Pumps, Heavy duty machines, etc

Star-Delta Connection:

A Motor Start Delta - Star may be used for Loads over 10 HP (recommended) and the most important is reduce the Pick Current Start , a normal Delta Start in a big Motor may reach very high Currents in few seconds, it may be difficult to our electrical Systems because the Feeder may have Voltage Drops in the line and other electrical components may be affected, and in these peaks the Thermal Overload Relay may operate
