Simulating Start/Reset in Counter CTU RSLogix 500 AB

First, We must to know these concepts:

Counter UP: There are the Counters that the value is +1, in each push or pulse in Counter Block it add +1 at the count

Counter Down: There are the Counters that the value is -1, in each push or pulse in Counter Block it subtract -1 at the count, programmation is very diferent to Counter Up

RSLogix 500 Micro Lite: Here is where PLC Programming is executed, the enviroment where we create, configure timers, counters, etc, ALL logic PLC Programming is in RSLogix

RSLinx Classic: The RS Linx is where we LINK devices and other Softwares between devices Allen Bradley and Rockwell, in this example will link Emulator y el RSLogix sometimes is like a OPC Server

STEP 1 : Programming CTU in RSLogix500

The Blocks of Functions are very imporant for use in Counters CTU

Go to Software RSLogix 500 and choose the CPU

Add the follow blocks to the program

B3:0/0 Start/Count Se considera una Marca desde una Entrada Digital (solo ejemplo ya que es un "Binary"); será el que ejecute los pulsos cortos OFF-ON para que el Contador realice su cuenta
B3:0/1 RESET Usamos una Marca de Ejemplo, pero en realidad es un Pulsador que "Reseteara" el Contador volviendo el ACCUM a 0
(RES) Este bloque es el reiniciará cualquier Contador que se asocie a la dirección C5:X; en este caso Resetea C5:0
CTU C4:0 Main block of the Counter UP "CTU" here we configure:
1. Counter: Number and Adress of Counter, the Block configuration is in the side and is called COUNTER C5
2. Preset: The Limit of the Count, when limit is reached Activate the Counter Output "DN"
3. Accum: Register the number of Counting when CTU has been pushed, when a CTU has a "RES" and is activated the Accum back to "0"

Now go to the blocks in side and Select the block called COUNTER C5

In this case we'll using the same block for some instructions, assigned value to Counter CTU, to the Reset RES and to Output "DN" of the Counter, the Counter Output is a Open Contact -| |-

Finally the program ready to start to simulate is the follow:

Take NOTE very important

download and install RSLinx RSLogix and RS Emulator

You must to configure:

Communications => Configure Drivers
Add SLC500 DH485 Emulator Driver
Now appear a new link EMU500 in the RSLinx, this is the Emulator

Next Open Emulator 500 and Open the file created in RSLogix (remember always compile), Press RUN and if it works, back to RSLinx and now you can see a new device of Emulator with program name called in RSLogix

Install software Allen Bradley RSLinx RSLogix and RS Emulator

Finally Review and Upload Emulator to RSLogix 500 and we are ready to simulate
download RSLinx RSLogix y RS Emulator
