Simulating Start/Stop with Timer TON RSLogix 500 AB

First, We must to know these concepts:

RSLogix 500 Micro Lite: Here is where PLC Programming is executed, the enviroment where we create, configure timers, counters, etc, ALL logic PLC Programming is in RSLogix

RSLinx Classic: The RS Linx is where we LINK devices and other Softwares between devices Allen Bradley and Rockwell, in this example will link Emulator y el RSLogix sometimes is like a OPC Server

Timer On-Delay (TON): It's the time in seconds mainly, that start to count, after when get the defined value Activate the Output

Timer Off-Delay (TOF): It's the time in seconds mainly, when you press the start Activate the Output in a Time defined and after back to stop

STEP 1 : Programming in RSLogix 500

The Blocks of Functions are very imporant for use some Functions

Go to Software RSLogix 500 and choose the CPU

Add the follow blocks to the program

I0.0 Start - I0.1 Stop Start and Stop as Digital Inputs, used in all control process
B3:0 Binary In others PLCs you may find as "FLAGS" - "M", are Contacts in a PLC that create better logic in the programmation
TON T4:0 The Main block of Timer On Delay "TON" here we configure:
1. Timer: Number and Adress of Timer, the Block configuration is in the side and is called TIMER T4
2. Time Base: The number of times of "Seconds", a Time Base 1.0, means 1 second
3. Preset: The Limit of the seconds counted, when limit is reached Activate the Timer Output "DN"
4. Accum: Register the Seconds Counting when TON is energized, when TON is not energized Accum back to "0"

Now go to the blocks in side and Select all important block to use

Select Flag or Binary that create a electrical retention in our Start/Stop

Then select the Timer Block and configure all parameters from image, the address important in this case is "DN" and will close a Contact when Preset Value has reached by Accum in the Timer Block

STEP 2: Configuring RSLinx and EMU

RSLinx provides Connections between RSLogix Micro, Emulator and AB Devices

Open RSLinx that we have downloaded Here in last chapter

Take NOTE very important

download and install RSLinx RSLogix and RS Emulator

You must to configure:

Communications => Configure Drivers
Add SLC500 DH485 Emulator Driver
Now appear a new link EMU500 in the RSLinx, this is the Emulator

Next Open Emulator 500 and Open the file created in RSLogix (remember always compile), Press RUN and if it works, back to RSLinx and now you can see a new device of Emulator with program name called in RSLogix

Install software Allen Bradley RSLinx RSLogix and RS Emulator

Finally Review and Upload Emulator to RSLogix 500 and we are ready to simulate
download RSLinx RSLogix y RS Emulator
