Create Thermodynamic and Control Complex Project

You Must to Know

First time PLC Logo! Siemens
Electricity

STEP 1 : Understanding Project

Always the most important is understand 100% the Project

Before start is very important know Logo! Siemens Learn first time with PLC Logo! Siemens and also Measure Temperature using PT100 in PLC Logo Siemens

PROJECT OBJETIVE

There is not Power Supply and the Cliente want to do a Luxury Loge, with Thermal POOl and an amazing place to rest

What is the Solution if we don't have electrical supply and Feasibility??

INSTALLING GAS ENGINE-GENERATOR

This is the begin of an excellent project, in this case will install Gas Engine-Generator 100kW, always is important consider features of generator:

THERMODYNAMIC

The Engine-Generator has other important feature that create Electrical Power, COGENERATION of energy allow us get the REFRIGERANT from Motor and create Thermal Energy by a HEAT EXCHANGER

Also will use Thermal Energy from the Exhaust GAS (CO) from Combustion in Generator; So in this moment we have 2 functions importants to heat from a Generator, all this energy weill be used to HEAT THE POOL WATER

Mechanical Engineer Importants Parts

CONTROL ENGINEERING

All this process is very important for Control, Monitoring, Dataloggers; will Programming a PLC Logo! Siemens and a TDE Screen Siemens

Engineering and Programmation must to consider:

STEP 2: Mechanical Engineering

Thermodynamic and Cogeneration are features in Mechanical Engineering

For thiscase the Professional of Mechanical Engineer must to be clear in the process as:

For a easy understanding will see the FLOW DIAGRAM to understand quickly how we get the Thermal Energy that will use to HEAT the Water of the Thermal Pool

Download Layout Flow Diagram Cogeneration
Flow Diagram and Pipings Connections in Project

Importants Materials using in Mechanical Engineering for this project

STEP 3: Electrical and Control

Control, Monitoring and PLC Programmation for a succesfull project

Particularly for this project we'll see only Control and Thermodynamic; will not see the Pumps and the power systems that feed the water in the Pool:

CHOOSE PLC

For this project we want to choose a great PLC; LOGO SIEMENS to manage:

Download Layout Control and Electrical Engineering
General Diagram Control and Electrical Engineering

IMPORTANT IN ELECTRICITY

The electrical parameters that we use in this project are:

CONTROL IMPORTANTS

This is a simple project but always consider the devices:

For example will work with his Proportional Actuator 0-10V

STEP 4: Programming PLC Siemens

The most excited moment is when you begin to program the PLC

Remember you can learn from 0 Learn for first time PLC Logo and Download DEMO and find all instructions as Scale RTD Modules PT100 in PLC Logo! and for more talent Programming Analog Ouutputs 0-10 Volts in PLC Logo Siemens

Begin to define the most important points the Programmation:

Define Control Logic:

  1. If "T1" is Lower than 30°C both Heat Exchanger (Pipes and Plates) will work, it means, the water will begin to HEAT

  2. When both Heat Exchanger are working means that Proportional Actuator will have 10 Volts and the Refrigerant will pass by Plates Heat Exchanger; The Valves V1 and V2 make to pass the Exhaust Gas by Pipe Heat Exchanger

  3. When "T1" is higher than 30°C will change the Flow of Gas Exhaust and will not pass by Pipe Heat Exchanger, only will heat by Plates Heat Exchanger

  4. When the Temperature is higher than 32°C in "T1" both Heat Exhangers will be closed and the Refrigerant and Gas Exhaust will follow the normal road (radiator and normal exhaust), by Thermodynamic Law Temperature will reach 33-34°C only with the Temperature of Pipes and Piscine; then the temperature will dicrease until reach again 31-32°C

  5. Temperatures "T2" - "T3" - "T4" - "T5" are only for monitoring and data

Scale RTD Inputs by Amplifiers for each Instruction for monitoring; Each Amplifier for each Temperature AI

Let's Create an Analog Threshold Trigger and maximum of 30°C will use this Trigger for Temperatures Lower than <30°C; BOTH heat exchangers will work under 30°C

Let's create other Analog Threshold Trigger Higher than 30°C will use it for Temperatures over >30°C, Remember over 30°C Will Close Pipe Heat Exchanger

Create Apart other Threshold Trigger only for Plates Heat Exchanger remember this Heat Exchanger Operate directly over Proportional Actuator; maximun Temperature 32°C and Add other important block ANALOGIC MUX for create 0-10 Volts Analog Output Signal

You can see in Specifications 2-10V but for assure the real Flow = 0; will work in absolut value 0-10 Volts; it means 0% Closed VS 100% OPEN; will not work modifying the flow

CONFIGURATION & MONITORING

Let's Configure TDE Screen using 2 Pages(display); Main and Temperature add the follow blocks:

Configuration of first Page(display), NOTE blocks must to be configured as the image shows (taking in consideration Priority and programmation blocks):

Then select the second blocks of Temperatures and begin to configure in TDE each one:

You can see the Temperature is higher....Excellent Project!

VIDEO How Program we configure works!

NOTE: In case we are working with PLC Logo! 12/24 RCE (24 Volts) verify that default configuration AI and AQ are showed as image, (0-10V and 0AI enabled), for assure that "AI1" is the same that RTD MODULE verify in File -> Properties -> I/O Settings -> Enable 0 AI; Logo 12/24 have integred 0-10 Volts AI and you must disable it

STEP 5: Programming Dataloggers

Configure how use Datalogger for our Analog Inputs in "X" time

Configure the follow block; FLAGS (Marcas), Timers and Datalogger; the first Timer will be the Time that you will take the DATA; it works nice in Logo!

Go inside Block Datalogger and select the values of Amplifier, then select and Insert Parameters; this programmation is for Constant Analog Input Values

We can review from LOGO SOFT the Data in SD Memory that we have installed, after installed SD automatically the data will start to save into SD; remember is very important connect blocks as image

STEP 6: Communicate PLC and TDE

Communicate by Ethernet and same Subnetwork PLC Logo and TDE Screen

Remember always if you forget IP of PLC go to => NETWORK => IP ADDRESS, your PC must to be in same Network than PLC (example IP Photo 192.168.0.3), Your PC may has a IP 192.168.0.5

Remember to communicate correctly by Ethernet TDE and PLC must to be in same Subnetwork

After we have IP of PLC go to Wifi or Internet Icon, click on "Network and Sharing Center" --> Change Adapter Settings --> Ethernet/Realtek/other --> Propierties --> Internet Protocol Version 4 TCP/IPv4 and change IP to same Sub Network PLC with other last number device

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

HERE THE LIST OF ANSWERS:

  1. Where Can Download Logo Soft Comfort! The Software of PLC Logo? and Buy Original CD?
For the Version DEMO go to Siemens Webpage here or you try in the above external links of Step 2 Here; It Costs around 70 USD (without upgrades) and you can get it in a external company Buy in Automation24 this software may be installed in many computers

  2. What Wires need to consider in TDE and PLC Connection?
You must to consider Power Supply TDE (12 o 24 Volts) and Network cable "Patch Cord" RJ45 connectors between TDE and Logo CPU; we recommend UTP Cable Category 5e, 6 or higher

  3. What Block is used to configure Display Logo and TDE Display?
Under in the corner of software => Instrucctions => Special Functions => Miscellaneous => MESSAGE TEXTS
